La Plagne is going ahead with a new lift and an upgrade around Plagne Centre in time for winter 2012-13. This should relieve queue build-ups on a busy route in Plagne Centre. It will also make life easier for skiers and boarders alike.
The Becion 4-seater chairlift will be replaced by a fast six-person lift to increase speed and capacity. This route could get crowded in busy holiday periods so the increase in capacity should eliminate another bottleneck. This new lift will be realigned slightly and the nearby Biolley button lift rerouted; the latter lift is only really used for competition.
In addition to the new lift, the Colorado chairlift will be extended so that it starts lower down the hill. This will not be much of an extension but will make a significant difference for boarders and skiers going across the front of Plagne Centre. This adjustment will lead to the removal of two drag lifts: ‘Cadri’ and ‘Z’ that are made redundant. Those of you who know these old lifts will not be sad to see them go!
The nearby Mont Saint Sauveur piste is being widened and a new nursery slopes area created.
All great news for those staying with Mark Warner at the Chalet Hotel Christina: it is right next to the Becoin chair. Also, a whole lot easier for the Oxygene instructors in their time off:
This video was taken on 15 March 2012; it starts on the old Becoin chairlift out of Plagne Centre.
